What is it used for?
Nootropil is used alongside other medicines in the treatment of cortical myoclonus. This condition results in short involuntary movements or jerks due to stimuli from the central nervous system. This can also result in difficulty with speech, loss of hand function and an inability to walk. Nootropil has also been used following trauma or surgery, and in a variety of other disorders such as alcoholism, vertigo, senile dementia, stroke, and behavioural disorders in children.

Contraindications and cautions:
Before taking any of this medicine make sure your doctor or pharmacist knows:
• if you are pregnant, trying for a baby, or breast-feeding
• if you suffer from liver or kidney problems
• if you have ever had an allergic reaction to this or any other medicine
• if you are taking any other medicines, including those available to buy without a prescription, herbal and complementary medicines
Nootropil can cause drowsiness. Make sure you know how you react to this medicine before driving, operating machinery or doing any other jobs which could be dangerous if you were not fully alert.
Before taking any 'over-the-counter' medicines, check with your pharmacist which medicines are safe for you to take alongside nootropil.

Side effects:
Most people do not have side effects when they take Nootropil. However, as with all medicines, some people may react differently. The most common side effects reported by patients receiving nootropil are restlessness, weight increase, nervousness, sleepiness, depression or weakness. Other side effects also reported are vertigo, stomach pain, diarrhoea, feeling or being sick, allergy to Nootropil, headache, unable to sleep, worse fits, impaired balance, unsteadiness when standing, anxiety, agitation or confusion, hallucinations, generalised swelling, skin rash or itching.
If you have any of these side effects, or you notice any other unexpected effects, tell your doctor or pharmacist.

Interactions: No interactions with commonly used pharmaceutical products have been found.
