What is it used for?
Aescin has a significant activity in chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), haemorrhoids and post-operative oedema.
In one controlled trial aescin was shown to be as effective as compression therapy as an alternative to medical treatment for CVI.
Contraindications and cautions:
Tell your doctor if you have or have had any of the following medical conditions:
• Hypersensivity
• Pregnant
• Breast-feeding
• Taking anticoagulin medicines
Side effects:
As well as their useful effects all medicines can cause unwanted side effects. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist if any of the following side effects continue or become troublesome:
Itching, burning, antitoxin rash, skin rash, indigestion.
Interactions: Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including any that you get without a prescription from your pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop. Aescin increases the effect of the anticoagulin medicines. |
