What is it used for?
Jumex is used to treat Parkinson's disease. It is believed that Deprenyl prevents the breakdown of dopamine in brain. Deprenyl is usually added to a treatment regimen after levodopa / carbidopa therapy begins to deteriorate.

Jumex is also used to treat the stiffness, tremors, spasms, and poor muscle control of Parkinson's disease. It is also used to treat the same muscular conditions when they are caused by drugs such as chlorpromazine (Thorazine), fluphenazine (Prolixin), perphenazine (Trilafon), and others.

Contraindications and cautions:

Before taking disulfiram,
• tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to disulfiram or any other drugs.
• tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking, especially amitriptyline (Elavil), anticoagulants ('blood thinners') such as warfarin (Coumadin), isoniazid, metronidazole (Flagyl), phenytoin (Dilantin), any nonprescription drugs that might contain alcohol, and vitamins.
• tell your doctor if you have or have ever had diabetes, thyroid disease, epilepsy, brain damage, or kidney or liver disease.
• tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking disulfiram, call your doctor.
• if you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are taking disulfiram.
• you should know that this drug may make you drowsy. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this drug affects you.

Side effects:

As well as their useful effects all medicines can cause unwanted side effects. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you do not feel well.
Possible gastrointestinal symptoms, such as nausea, heartburn, upset stomach, etc. Some studies have found side effects such as irritability, hyper-excitability, psychomotor agitation and insomnia.
The most frequent side effects also include chest pain (severe); enlarged pupils; fast or slow heartbeat; headache (severe); increased sensitivity of eyes to light; increased sweating (possibly with fever or cold, clammy skin); nausea and vomiting (severe); stiff or sore neck.

Interactions: Tell your doctor or pharmacist what medicines you are already taking, including those bought without a prescription and herbal medicines, before you start treatment with this medicine. Jumex can interact with other medications such as Demerol, and many depression medications. Be sure to talk to your doctor about any other medication you are taking before taking Jumex. Although Jumex is less likely than non-selective monoamine oxidase inhibitors to interact with tyramine in food, like other monoamine oxidase inhibitors it can produce life-threatening reactions when given with pethidine.
