What is it used for?
Levofloxacin is used treat infections such as pneumonia; chronic bronchitis; and sinus, urinary tract, kidney, and skin infections. Levofloxacin is in a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. It works by eliminating bacteria that cause infections. Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.

Contraindications and cautions:

Before taking levofloxacin,
• tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin (Cipro), enoxacin (Penetrex), lomefloxacin (Maxaquin), norfloxacin (Noroxin), ofloxacin (Floxin), sparfloxacin (Zagam), cinoxacin (Cinobac), nalidixic acid (NegGram), or any other drugs.
• tell your doctor if you have or have ever had kidney or liver disease, convulsions, colitis, stomach problems, vision problems, heart disease, or history of stroke.
• tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking levofloxacin, call your doctor.
• if you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are taking levofloxacin.
• you should know that this medication may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, and tiredness. Do not drive a car or work on dangerous machines until you know how levofloxacin will affect you.
• plan to avoid unnecessary or prolonged exposure to sunlight and to wear protective clothing, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Levofloxacin may make your skin sensitive to sunlight.
• keep in mind that it causes increased or decreased blood sugar in patients taking antidiabetes medications or insulin. Careful monitoring of blood glucose is advised. If you experience a significant drop in blood glucose, stop taking levofloxacin and call your doctor.

Side effects:

Less serious side effects may include:
• nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, constipation;
• feeling restless or anxious;
• headache, dizziness;
• muscle pain;
• sleep problems (insomnia), or nightmares;
• vaginal itching or discharge; or
• mild skin itching.
This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect.

Interactions:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist what medicines you are already taking, including those bought without a prescription and herbal medicines, before you start treatment with this medicine. Minerals with 2 or 3 positive charges, called divalent or trivalent ions, respectively, can attach to levofloxacin and other fluoroquinolones and prevent their absorption from the intestine into the blood. Therefore, such products (containing iron, calcium, zinc, or magnesium) as well as antacids, should be taken at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after levofloxacin. Other drugs which contain these ions and which can similarly interact with levofloxacin include sucralfate (Carafate) and didanosine.
Taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) with levofloxacin may increase the risk of CNS stimulation, resulting in over-excitation. There have been reports of changes in blood sugar in patients treated with other fluoroquinolones and antidiabetic agents. Other fluoroquinolones have been reported to increase blood levels of theophylline (Theodur), warfarin (Coumadin), and cyclosporine (Sandimmune; Neoral). There have not yet been similar reports with levofloxacin.

FAQ
Question: Why do you have such cheap branded medecines?
Answer: We keep low prices because we buy our medecines in the countries, which have a low drug tax, however all medicines are produced by original manufactures. Another reason of low prices is purchasing of the drugs in association with a large group of partners in bulk quantity. Also we use cheaper but quality method of delivery.

Question: Why are generic drugs cheaper than branded medicines?
Answer: Manufactureres that produce generics do not spend much money on development of a new preparation, they just need to reproduce something that was developed before. That’s why the price for generics is much more affordable. Usually generics are let to be produced only when the original medication is being sold in the market for several years.

Question: Is Generic the exact copy of the original?
Answer: If we study the chemical composition of the generic and the original, we’ll find out that in reality they are not identical (dublicates). They have similar “therapeutic core” but additional ingredients can differ either in quantitative or qualitative composition. Anyway it doesn’t influence on the effect. At the end of the
